The Commack Youth League runs a lacrosse league for boys 1st through 8th grade. Lacrosse is lots of running with physical contact and pads for boys. Parents will be required to purchase the boys uniform consisting of shorts and jersey. The uniform can be purchased at Port Jeff Sports located on Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown. You will also be required to purchase a lacrosse stick and pads.

The league will loan helmets for boys, 1st and second grade or first time player at any age. The league understands there is an initial outlay for equipment that can add up, but we will no longer supply helmets or goggles for returning players past 2nd grade.

Lacrosse registration will open December 1st 2007 through January 31st 2008. We will be closing registration without notice once team quotas have been met.  Registration is first come first served, so register early! (We will be limiting teams to a reasonable number  to give as much playing time to the children, and may have to close out an age group. This will be determined by first come, first served, so register early). Depending on age and teams, there may be the need to place children on A/B teams. The Suffolk County Lacrosse League does require A/B teams if a town has more than 1 team in an age group. This will be determined by skills and knowledge of the game with practice tryouts. This goes for both boys and girls’ teams.

Boys usually practice and play at their home field: Sagtikos in Commack. The Commack Youth League has recently invested in the beautification of these fields, and Sagtikos will be closed for the 2008 spring season. Boys will be playing at the High School and/or Saw mill for the upcoming season. Once you register, your coach will notify you of practice schedule. Lacrosse season starts in the spring. You will not hear from your coaches till beginning of March for 2008 season. Please keep checking back to web site for announcements and lacrosse updates. There will be winter indoor practice opportunities that will be open for registered Commack Youth League players starting in January. These practices are at coaches discretion and time availability. The Commack Youth League will also be running a 6 week long clinic with Lacrosse trainers for both boys and girls this coming winter. Please check back to the site for information in the coming weeks. This will be open to seasoned and beginner players on a first come, first served basis.
