Welcome to Commack Lacrosse
About the Commack Youth Lacrosse League
The Commack Youth League runs a lacrosse league for boys and girls 1st through 8th grade. The lacrosse program on long island is growing by leaps and bounds, and Commack has been building our program along the way. Lacrosse is a spring sport, and we encourage the youth of Commack to try the game. For most it is love at first game.
Lacrosse is lots of running with physical contact and pads for boys, and no contact, but finesse for the girls game. Please see specifics for boys and girls under appropriate links.
We have implemented new criteria for registration: The league will loan helmets for boys, 1st and second grade or first time player at any age. The girls will receive goggles on loan for 1st and second grade or first time player at any age. This is a new rule for lacrosse in 2007. The league understands there is an initial outlay for equipment that can add up, but we will no longer supply helmets or goggles for returning players past 2nd grade.
• There is a refundable $50 mandatory participation/equipment fee for girls that sign up for lacrosse. This is a mandatory fee that all girls will pay—by check and will be collected by your coach. Regardless of borrowing goggles, all girls will have to give their coach this $50 fee per child. You will get this refundable fee back once you have participated as a volunteer. If your daughter has borrowed goggles from the league, you will get this check back after the return of the goggles and parent participation. If one or the other is not fulfilled, the league will keep this check.
• There is a refundable $100 mandatory participation/equipment fee for boys and girls that sign up for lacrosse. This is a mandatory fee that all will pay—by check and will be collected by your coach. You will get this refundable fee back once you have participated as a volunteer and returned all loaned equipment. If any/all equipment is not returned, or you have not volunteered, the league will keep the entire $100 to cover it's cost.
If for some reason you decide lacrosse is not for your child, The Commack Youth League will keep $25 of the registration fee as administration fees. You will receive the remaining registration fee as long as any equipment is returned to the league. The $100 participation fee will be returned only after any equipment has been returned and family participation. The league provides many opportunities for participation from coaching, field maintenance, equipment management, team parent etc.
More information specific to boys and girls will follow. Please keep checking back with us. Depending on age and teams, there may be the need to place children on A/B teams. The Suffolk County Lacrosse League does require A/B teams if a town has more than 1 team in an age group. This will be determined by skills and knowledge of the game with practice tryouts. This goes for both boys and girls’ teams.
